Personal Trainers Toronto for Business Owners

I know you look to me to deliver great fitness content…and I respect that.

Today’s blog is not about fitness, but it’s about something I really believe in.

I’m very proud to be hosting an event here in Toronto on the evening of May 26th, which, IMHO, is a “must-attend” for current, or would-be business owners.

It’s called “Business Breakthroughs”, and it takes place at the brand new ING Direct “Network Orange” Cafe near Yonge and Shutter (very cool)!  I’ve invited my good friend and mentor, Bill Walsh, to come and “raise the roof” with an inspiring talk.  If you don’t know him, well, he’s a genius when it comes to business.

He’s an internationally reknowned speaker who mentors business greats such as Brian Tracy and Mark Victor Hansen (“Chicken Soup for the Soul” co-author).  He’s the founder of the fastest growing business and personal development company in the world.

Whether you currently run a business, or just have the idea of starting one, you will absolutely LOVE his message!  Here are the details, and how to register:

http://www.BusinessBreakthroughEvening.com

Tickets are only $10, and here’s the best part… 100% goes to The Children’s Wish Foundation, to help children who are severly ill.

The only catch is we have limited space, and at just $10 per person, we fully expect to sell out!

Once again, you can find out all the details and get tickets here:

http://www.BusinessBreakthroughEvening.com

I really hope you’ll join us and help support the cause.  Bill’s mentorship has changed my life, and I believe 100% he can help you achieve all of your goals and dreams.  There’s nothing like living your passion, waking up excited every morning, and having the freedom to deal with life on your own terms.

And I’m sincere when I say that I want that for you.

To Your Success,

Conor Kelly

My Most Valuable Personal Trainers Toronto Post This Year

As you can imagine, I get a lot of questions about nutrition and exercise on a daily basis.

But the #1 question I get asked most frequently is…

“What do YOU do?”

I think that’s a very important question, because so many of us learn by example, and by modeling what others before us have done.

On today’s blog I have some killer content for you.

For the first time, I’ve posted MY nutrition journal, unedited and uncensored (cheats included)!  Not only can you see, in detail, every thing I do on a weekly basis…but in my comments I’ve included 11 bite-sized, easily-digestible, strategies and “breakthrough moments” to help you succeed even faster with your fitness program!

Neeeeehaw!

Why am I doing this?

Because I know how powerful it can be to have real, visual examples of how this process works.  Bottom line, I want you to have that breakthrough you’ve been waiting for.  Just remember where you got it.  : )

11 Powerful Breakthroughs Based On My Journal

1. Keep A Journal!  Why?  Because it works.  I can site studies for you that prove you’ll lose weight 2-3 times faster just by keeping a journal, but ultimately I know from experience.  After so many years of doing this, and having coached hundreds of clients, I can tell you those that do the journal get results!  When you don’t, the odds of failure increase dramatically.  Period.  End of story.  What are you waiting for?  Follow my lead, use a format that’s convenient for you.  I’m in front of a computer a lot, so I use an excel spreadsheet.

2. Portions.  I’m a 180-pound man.  You can see, portions are not huge.  I just eat what I need to fuel.  Anything more is a stress on the body.  When you eat the right stuff, space your meals at regular intervals, and drink lots of water, you’ll see, you don’t need that much.

3. Meal Spacing.  You can see pretty consistently every 3-4 hours I’m having a meal.  It keeps you fueled, keeps you burning calories, and prevents over-eating.

4. Protein.  You can see that I get a bit of protein at each meal to boost my metabolism and keep my lean muscle while I drop fat.  That’s the key.  In recent weeks I’ve been experimenting with Tim Ferris’ “slow carb” diet.  No starches, dairy, or fruits.  Lots of veggies, protein, and legumes (beans and lentils).  I use 1, 24-hour period per week where I can eat anything I want (Sat. evening/Sunday).  This prevents me from getting bored, prevents my metabolism from slowing down, and helps me build muscle while I lose fat.  I like the plan because it’s simple to follow and it works, although I’m not sure yet whether it works better than my usual protocols.

5. Get on with it!  We ran out of most of our groceries on Tuesday, had to deviate from the plan a bit.  Stuff like this happens.  Get back on track as soon you can and don’t fret for a second!  Your body can’t count calories or carbs or grams of protein.  Go for consistent, not perfect.

6. Caffeine.  If you’re wondering about the sugar-free Red Bull on Saturday, during periods of “bingeing”, caffeine increases the speed of gastric emptying, reducing the amount of fat that can be stored.  Plus I just like Red Bull, sue me!  I don’t drink it very often though.

7. Training.  Currently three times per week for about 45 minutes.  When you do the right stuff in your training session, it doesn’t take much for it to be effective.  Regardless, stategic nutrition is still the biggest catalyst your fat loss.

8. Pushup/Squats on Sunday.  Doing some light pushups and squats right before a cheat meal and 90-minutes after increases the insulin sensitivity of muscles, which means that you can force those extra calories toward helping you keep muscle while you lose fat, instead of beefing up those fat stores.  It definitely works, you can feel it.  Got that idea from Tim Ferris as well.

9.  Drink lots of water!  I didn’t keep track of my water here, but I typically drink about three litres per day.  This one habit could revolutionize your health.  I tend not to drink much with meals, but in between meals.  If I feel tired or hungry and it hasn’t been at least three hours since my last meal, I drink lots of water before doing anything else.  Usually takes care of it.  Water gives you so much energy and helps to control appetite while enhancing fat loss.  Drinking lots of water also allowed me to stop drinking coffee completely (try it)!

10.  Monday to Saturday I eat pretty much the same stuff.  You’ll see that there’s not a whole lot of variety in my meals during the week.  This is by design.  People who succeed the most with their nutrition plan eat the same stuff over and over.  Makes it much simpler to follow.  Most people overestimate how much variety exists in their current habits anyway.  I enjoy my food during the week and use Sundays to try different stuff.  Find a few meal options that work for you and cycle them.  It works.

11. Miscellaneous stuff (bars,  sea salt, preparation, eggs).  I choose mostly Shaklee Vitabars, altough I sometimes eat Isoflex.  I’ll eat a MR bar about 4 times per week usually.  Love organic sea salt for certain meals, great source of minerals, enhances energy and mood.  Prepare food twice per week and portion it into Glasslock microwavable containers at night or in the morning, depending on how late I get home and how early I’m leaving the next day.  Eggs are not overly fattening, the idea that they raise cholesterol is hooey, and was disproven a long time ago.  I eat mostly egg whites, but 2-4 whole eggs per day as well.

Please leave your comments or questions by clicking on “leave a comment” above!

Well that pretty much does it.  Hope you found that valuable.  More importantly, I hope you took notes and are gonna start implementing a few of these things, because they’ll be worth nothing to you unless you take action on what you’ve learned.  Stop thinking about it and just frikin do it already!  Get out of your head and get into action!  Thinking too much is precisely what got most people to where they are now – sick and tired of being sick and tired.  It’s too late to be a pessimist, you can do this!

You don’t have to be great to get started, but you do have to get started to be great!

Don’t forget, if you haven’t already, this is your last chance to register for our complimentary fitness breakthrough session, “Stop The Confusion!!”, which takes place on Monday, March 14th at 6.30PM at Clarins Spa in Yorkville.

There are only a few spots left and I bet they’re gone by the end of the day!  Get all the details and register right now by going here:

Personal Trainers Toronto “Don’t Look Like Santa” Workout (New Video)

Have you ever wondered why Santa isn’t more lean?

I mean, I know he’s supposed to be jolly and all, but think of how many calories you’d burn loading up that sleigh with all those presents.

Maybe he works really hard but his nutrition sucks (after all, good nutrition is #1 when it comes to fat loss)…

Maybe he doesn’t work that hard, and just gets the elves and the reindeer to do all the work…

Maybe he’s an emotional eater and the stress of delivering to all those little boys and girls just gets to him…

OR, maybe he just hasn’t seen my new “don’t look like Santa”, fast and powerful fat-burning workout!

You can watch it (and use it to burn fat faster) here:

Don’t Look Like Santa Claus Workout 2010!

Just don’t tell Santa…

If he starts using it I’ll have to come up with a new title for next year, because looking like Santa will be a good thing. : )

Enjoy – and practice keeping fit this holiday season!

Personal Trainers Toronto Awards Ceremony Highlights

Hi,

I’ve got some pretty cool personal trainers Toronto content for you today.

We like to do things a little different here at Evolution Fitness, and a couple of weeks ago we held a very special client appreciation event that included a unique awards ceremony.

You see, we’re very proud of all our personal trainers Toronto trainees, and wherever possible, we like to recognize them for their achievements.

What I’d like to do for you is share a little bit about each award winner and give you at least one tip, or lesson from each success story on how they are changing their lives, which you can then take and apply in your own life to help you get that much closer to creating your own fitness success story.

Personally, I love hearing success stories, and learning about what successful people do.

I find it really motivating and inspiring, plus when you’re constantly focused on success you get more…well, success!

Kristyna Star, Most Dedicated Award

Personal Trainers Toronto

“I’m not gonna eat chicken breast and yams six times a day, and I still have to be able to go out and enjoy myself!”

I still remember Krystina telling me that the first time we met. I listened, smiled, and said “ok.”

The reality is, if you want long-term success with your fitness program you need to change your lifestyle. That being said, it’s about balance. Unless you are a competitive bodybuilder, being too extreme with your program is a flawed strategy that will backfire in the end. Hey, we’re people – we gotta live!

The Personal Trainers Toronto “Most Dedicated” award was chosen based on record of attendance, not missing workouts, overall program compliance, and performing training sessions at the appropriate intensity.

Krystina gets an “A” in all of these, and not surprisingly, she’s lost 25lbs. on our program.

What her secret? In a word, being disciplined to a schedule.

You see, as a busy executive, Krystina does not get a lot of free time…the key to her not missing workouts is simply to schedule them, and then stick to that schedule. She says, “if it’s on the calendar, and it’s scheduled, then it’s like an appointment that I would have for work, and it’s something I can’t miss.”

I’ll be frank, that’s how I do it too. When I plan out my week, the first thing that goes in my calendar is my workouts, and I treat it like any other appointment I would have with a client. Do you think I miss workouts? It happens, but it’s extremely rare.

Most of you reading this would NEVER miss an appointment for work, so why not keep an appointment with yourself? I mean, think about it…what’s more important than your health? The simple act of keeping this appointment, even just 3 days a week, can make all the difference when it comes to preserving your most valuable resource: YOU.

Jason Marshall, Most Improved Award

Personal Trainers Toronto

This one was kind of a “no brainer” to us. It went to the personal trainers Toronto trainee who faced the biggest lifestyle challenges, implemented the most significant changes, and therefore experienced the most dramatic results.

A friend, when Jason first walked through the door he tipped the scales at a massive 343 lbs, in fear for his health – and his life. Having lost almost 70 lbs. in six months (43 lbs. in the first 16 weeks), he is in a very different place today.

He shared that as a big guy, and a former athlete, his ego was his downfall whenever it came to starting a fitness program. Wanting to believe his abilities were greater than they were, he just tried to do too much, too soon, and frequently ended up burnt out, discouraged, or worse, with an injury.

The reason for his success is that this time Jason understands that he needs to be different. How? First, it’s a long term plan to be fit, and you gotta take it one step at a time. Second, you have to get outside your comfort zone to see progress. If your usual pattern is that you stop when things get tough, try it a different way, and keep going instead!

Bottom line, if you want a different outcome, you have to be a different YOU.

A touching moment for everyone was Jason saying that “this is probably the best thing I’ve ever done, to tell you the truth. If it weren’t for this program, I might not be here today, so thank you.” (Watch the video!)

Personal Trainers Toronto Awards Ceremony Highlights

Thank you Jason for inspiring us with your success, and remember – we’re just gettin’ started, pal!

Paul Perri, Client Of The Year

The Personal Trainers Toronto Client of the Year award has elements of the previous two, dedication, major changes, excellent results, but also reflected devotion to our program in the form of support, feedback, and referrals.

As a national director for a tech company, Paul has a lot of responsibilities, but has consistently gone out of his way to help us improve our program and grow our business. For that we are grateful.

The thing that stands out most about Paul is his level of commitment. Right from the beginning he decided it was BIG change he was after.

He had tried other programs in the past (and other personal trainers in Toronto) and been disapointed with the results. He knew his approach needed to be holistic, and include both nutrition and training protocols.

That’s where we came in.

In his own words: “I’ve worked with a lot of trainers in the past and didn’t get results. What I like about you guys is the education – I like to understand why I’m doing things.”

His secret? Paul does a little something every day that brings him closer to his goal. It’s not always a big, intense workout – even 30 minutes of walking or jogging will do the trick. It’s that daily focus, as much as the time that he spends with us that is responsible for his success. Every little bit counts, something is still better than nothing. It could be that little bit of light cardio, or saying no to that piece of cake at an office birthday party (which in Paul’s case is much less likely). : ) Regardless, get that daily victory.

As you can see from his photos, that mindset has served him well. Having lost 20lbs. and 6% bodyfat, Paul has a new body today.

Dream big, commit big, and take consistent daily action toward the goal. That’s what I’ve learned from Paul Perri.

Final Thoughts

If there is a common thread in these personal trainers Toronto success stories, it’s that each award winner has taken the time, and made the effort to adopt new, supportive habits around eating and exercise.

Your body and your health is a direct reflection of your beliefs and habits concerning food, working out, and your own worthiness. Anyone can have a lean, fit body, you just have to have the right habits.

Changing your habits is not always easy, but it can be very doable if you have the right guidance, education, support, and accountability.

If you want real, lasting change in 2010, we’re here to help. We’ve helped hundreds of people just like you change their lives through fitness, and we want you to be our next success story.

That’s why I really hope you’ll call me at (416) 220-7883 to discuss all that is possible for you to achieve, and schedule your complimentary personal trainers Toronto health and fitness consultation.

Why Nutrition is 'Numero Uno' for Fat Loss

Hi,

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times: you can’t out-train a bad diet.

At least now people are begining to listen.

Even the World Health Organization (WHO) recently came out in support of a study that concluded the current obesity pandemic is due to too much calories, as opposed to not enough activity, as it was originally thought.

Simply put, the calories you consume pile up much faster and more easily (and enjoyably) than they can be burned off through exercise.

It’s what you don’t know about NUTRITION that’s holding you back from living in the body you’ve always wanted.

We hear it all the time here at Personal Trainers Toronto, “I know how to eat, Conor, I just don’t do it.”

WRONG!

If you knew it, I mean really, truly knew it deep down inside, then you’d be LIVING IT.

That’s a fact.

You can pay it lip service to it all you want, but you don’t truly know something until you live it!

That’s why I am thrilled to be able to announce our latest Your Body Fix(TM) workshop, beginning July 14th. Go here for the details:

www.BodyFixWorkshop.com

It’s a proven nutritional system for quickly and permanently losing all the weight you want.

We help you ‘install’ the system in your life.

All of this for only $47, installation included. : )

However, class size is strictly limited to 20, and we have about 6 people on the waiting list, so register now, these spots won’t last!

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Healthy AND Strong Is Taking Over

I’m tired of this. Aren’t you?

I’m sick of the same old recycled routines you see in the “glossies”. It’s always the same, 3-4 exercises per body part, straight sets of 10-15, long, slow cardio workouts…

BOOOOORING!

Completely ineffective too. If you want your body to change you have to treat it like the finely tuned fat-burning engine it wants to be. That means you have to move your body!

There is a simple rule to all this: the body becomes its function. That means you have to challenge the body in a diversity of ways, so it becomes strong and most of all FUNCTIONAL.

We had a great bootcamp workout in Ramsden Park this morning…we challenged the participants conditioning, strength, and involved the entire body.

To look healthy and strong, you must first BE healthy and strong. Remember that.

Speaking of strong, here are a few pictures from the Barrie Strongman Challenge last Saturday where yours truly was MC-ing.

Important Announcement From Personal Trainers Toronto

Hi,

Big news to share with you today. More on this in a moment.

I would say that the single biggest reason most fitness programs fail is quite simple – the workouts are just too frigin’ boring!

I’m lucky. I’ve always enjoyed working out (well, maybe not doing cardio).

But the workouts I always looked forward to the most were on weekends when we would do our strongman event training.

There’s just something about being outdoors, and enjoying a dynamic, total body workout – in the company of friends – that beats sweating it out in a stuffy gym any day!

If you’ve struggled with sticking to your exercise routine, and you’re sick and tired of boring workouts that produce zero results, then I’ve got great news for you!

Announcing – just in time for summer – our new Evolution Fitness “4-Week Transformation” Boot Camp!

Get all the details by going here:

Fitness boot camps have taken the GTA by storm.

They’re fun, affordable, and they work faster than any other method for getting fantastic, body-transforming results!
