Are you practicing to improve?

Just finished another great “Secrets of
Supportive Eating” seminar.

Fun crowd last night, high energy, and
these guys were definitely playing to win,
let me tell you.

Especially during a really cool segment
I call “How To Be A Fat Loss Genius In
20 Minutes Flat!”

If you want to check it out, I’ll be
announcing the next seminar soon, but
make sure and watch for that email,
because space is limited and we already
have a waiting list!

I’ve been on a real “inspirational” kick
since I got back from L.A., and it
continues with this email.

Yes it’s not exactly the fitness and
nutrition content that are my usual fare,
but in a way it’s really much more
foundational to your fitness program.

Besides, you’re not sick of it yet, are
you?

I hope not, because this email concerns
you personally.

The question in the subject line was,
are you practising to improve?

In today’s blog post I’ll share with
you a really cool story one of my mentors
told me about one of the greatest athletes
in history.

The athlete in question is none other than
Mr. Lance Armstrong himself.

You may know his story, he beat cancer
to win an unprecedented 7 Tour De France
titles as a cyclist.

The story goes, Lance was asked one day,
“how did you do it? How could you win so
many times?”

Here’s what he said:

“When I started, I planned out a very specific
course and rode it on my bike.

I figured that if I could ride this course
in 3 hours, 30 minutes, I would have what it
took to win.

I committed myself to riding that course
every day with the singular intention of
improving my time each time I did it.

The first time out it took me 4 hours and
15 minutes. The second day it took me 4
hours and 12 minutes. The third day it took
4 hours and 10 minutes.

On the fourth day, I rode it in 4 hours and
11 minutes, after which I immediately got
back on my bike, THE SAME DAY, and rode
the entire course all over again, this time in
4 hours and 8 minutes!

I was totally committed to do whatever it
takes to win.”

Wow.

Can you imagine? Coming from a man like
that?

What wisdom…

I ask you again, are you practising to
improve?

A lot of people are practising, very few
are actually practising to improve.

Most people will go to the gym day in,
and day out, and their bodies never actually
change!

If you want your quality of life to be
dramatically, irrevocably improved your
intention needs to be mastery.

Mastery is mandatory.

If you value your health and fitness, if
it’s something you consider important,
commit yourself to becoming a master in
this arena.

Second fiddle just won’t cut it.

Mediocrity just won’t cut it.

When you play at a 5 out of 10, you’ll
get 5 out of 10 results.

Bottom line, if you want big change, you
need to step up your game my friend.

There are people just like you who have
been successful at it, you know that.

No more 5 out of 10 for you,
no more “minor leagues”, it’s time to
step up to the big leagues.

If your effort is a 10, your results will
be a 10, your life will be a 10.

But you must start with the intention of
getting better every single week, not
matter how small, or how incremental the
improvement is.

Massive changes occur over time when you
are truly committed, when you are practising
to improve.
